Hat-tip to Dogballs' "professional golfer in residence", 'Craiger' aka Scottish Lasagna, aka ACE, aka Schniddy...
TaylorMade Golf recently unveiled two exciting new drivers at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, each targeted at a specific player type. The r7(r) SuperQuad(tm) pairs a 460 cc all-black clubhead with four movable weights, and is aimed at "calculate and launch" players who prefer to achieve maximum distance and accuracy by carefully tuning their equipment to their swings. Meanwhile the new Burner(r) driver is engineered for players who prefer to "bomb and gauge" off the tee: swing hard and fast, hit the ball as long as possible in order to set up the shortest possible approach shot - whether it`s from the fairway or not.
For my money... I still like my r7 but the new Burner is beautiful. Check out the mini-site here. You gotta love the "calculate and launch" player vs. "bomb and gauge" player... Apparently "grip it and rip it" is already trade-marked by Daly. I'm waiting for the r8 (dogballs special) for the player who likes to "top-it and hope for the best." ;-)
