Guy Kawasaki's keynote was inspiring. The powerpoint-driven conference meets the un-conference keynoter. It's a wonderful treat when you get more out of ten slides with two-word phrases than you do from 50 pages of 10-point font. He discussed his 10 (+1 bonus) rules for business success.
#5: Don't worry, be crappy. Ship it. Get it done and then improve it. Don't ship crappy things but don't wait until the product is *perfect.* (It never will be.)
#10: The 10/20/30 rule. 10 slides, 20 minutes, 30 point font. [Amen to that!]
#11: Don't let bozos grind you down. [Self-explanatory, but worth being reminded.]
I handed Guy one of our MOO cards but it violated the 10/20/30 rule so he wasn't an immediate fan of them. I hope to win him over a little later. :)
The next session I atteneded was a panel with Rick Klau from feedburner. I'm a huge fan of feedburner and now have a little more laptop bling to show it. I didn't get a chance to ask him for a free 'pro account' though. Damn! :) During the session I was reminded to check my Yahoo! Site Explorer set-up page. I signed up for it awhile ago, but haven't checked to see if the blog is getting picked up or not.
After that, I hung around for a favorite speaker of mine, Amanda Watlington. Amanda spoke of the powerful marketing potential of My Space (often talked about) and 2nd Life (not as frequently discussed but FAR more interesting.) Companies like, Adidas, Scion and Reuters. The online economy is spending a staggering $350,000.00 per day! Amazing.
More to come as the conference in Las Vegas continues...
