In golf, they say, "it's better to be lucky than to be good." You normally hear that line immediately after topping your tee shot, hitting the cart-path, a tree root and into the fairway. (I've seen it done...it's very nice.) Well, in addition to luck being more important than skill, you can now add "funny."
Case in point... Mr. Gary McCord (best known in the golf circuit as being a funny commentator) has his very own Upper Deck golf card. He played on the PGA, but apparently reached "legend status" simply by being funny. (He played 'himself' in Tin Cup to perfection.)
0 Masters, 0 U.S. Opens, 0 (British) Opens and 0 PGA Championships. Yep...add those four together and you get 0 Majors. What do the other Legends have to say about this?
Those of us who put luck and "funny" on the same shelf as skill can appreciate it and look forward to making Legend status ourselves. Mr. McCord ... you are a Legend ... we just need to get a different measurement tool on the back of your UpperDeck card... although, come to think of it... it is pretty damn "funny" as-is. I would only suggest you add, "fart jokes on the tee" as the fifth major.
Cheers!
