Surprise!

I made it down to San Diego this weekend to help surprise Craig on his birthday. The first rule of a good surprise party is misdirection and we had that in spades. First of all, Craig had the day off from TaymorMade Golf due to a very elaborate scam we pulled off...the John Daly cover-story got him the day off. ;-)

The day started out with a surprise six-some at Cross Creek in Temcula with more friends from our Scotland trip. Jon thought it would be a good idea to play behind a corporate scramble (other than this misstep he's quite brilliant.) It was the most fun a six-hour round of golf could produce.

After the round the Scottish Golf group drove off and I drove with Craig to his brother's house in Rancho Santa Fe for the BIG surprise. All his friends and family gave him a good shock and we had a great time. See the pictures.

Linda pulled off an amazing party...and was able to keep Craig in the dark (a tough task!)

Happy Birthday Day Craig! You haven't changed a bit!

Yahoo! Hack Day on CBS

Lots of blogsophere coverage (and a special shout-out to Greg Cohn, whose blog wrap-up of the event  hits the target spot-on...an event that inspires you to be a Yahoo!) but this is the first TV news coverage I've seen. Enjoy. Hats off to all the planners and participants. See you next year!

Unreal

Until you've seen it in person, you can't understand the vastness of the poker room. Tables as far as the eye can see. My heart rate doubled just by walking in. Intense pressure. People celebrating. People crying. The air is so thick with intensity.

We're here watching the other second round and taking it all in.

Larry's 'false-start' at the WSOP

Larry's confirmed Friday start at the World Series of Poker Main Event had an unceremonious end. With confirmation in hand to begin the tournament today at 12:00 noon, he was told that a mistake had occurred and his opening round will not take place today but, instead, on Sunday.

Destiny will have to wait two more days...in the meantime, he's a stranger in a strange town... Las Vegas doesn't have a chance!

You can find Larry at the Paradise Poker VIP lounge until Sunday.

He goes by the name of Scottish Lasagna and Schniddy. Last seen w/ beard but has likely shaved it off (after three hours of work with a straight edge and industrial strength shaving cream.)

He's considered armed and dangerous (w/ his six-wood.)
